My Story and This is My Life

Hi Internet,

I born before 7/11, after Y2K, early 00s, in a coastal city. One of the reason why like to swim a lot. I was lucky kid, had a computer my early age which I believe it helped me to understand how most tech works.

When I was in high school, because of my family and my bad decision, went to one of the worst school in my city. Became one of the best student to worst one. Everyone in my family and around me lost faith about me.

They been saying he will work in a retail rest of his life or something...

One of my high school friend showed me his computer program, wrote with C# and it blowed my mind. At that moment, I started reading/learning about anything programming.

People said: he cannot be a programmer, just wasting his time...

In that time I didn't have any computer in house. Decided to work part time and summers full time in retail, they were right, sort of. Saved my money and bought my first computer, Lenovo IdeaPad it was big, chunky and heavy machine. I bring everywhere with me. Keep learning, trying.

People said: he is stupid, I wouldn't carry that heavy bag everyday...

HIgh school finished, couldn't able to afford/accepted any colleges. Still trying to work any tech company but they were looking experience and degree which I don't have any of it. Worked full time in retail until I cannot.

People said: world is gonna stop working for one week but we waited almost 2 years...

I worked more, applied more internships. Finally one startup in my city accept me as an intern. They asked can you sleep in coach a while, I said yes. Worked hard, even got offered after 3 months as a full time developer. I wasn't paid much but I was finally happy because I was doing something I love.

People said: Ehh, not much money, he will probably comeback...

After one year working in same place, I decided apply other companies which finally I was getting better offers than my current salary. And decided to move on to other company who is paying better salary. Learned more, worked more but it was not mine which always made me felt weird about it. Wanna try my own which I was gonna taste it.

Met a student, he had an idea, I had software. We worked together almost 5 months. I was working day in my job, night on that project. He said someone interested about investing our project but one requirement is software should be 100% ready in next 3 months. I knew it's impossible without quitting my day job and focusing full time on that project. I decided go for it.

Two months later, software is keep going but I learnt that my business partner lied about investors. Pissed off about everything, now don't have any job, and low in cash. One of the lowest moment of my life. My partner stole the project and leave me on mess. Lesson learned very well and paid the debt.

People laughed and said: Dumb guy, he had good job, never gonna be lucky to find that job again.

Became homeless short a while, but talked with my first startup and joined back them. Not great salary again, maybe worst but at least I have a place to stay with the offer. I am saying couch offer :) Stayed there 12 months until my old friends offered me a place to stay a while. I was tired and wanna take a break. And I did too.

People said: Here we go, we told you, this guy belong here.

I worked another 2 years in retail while working on my side project. Of course none of them worked. In my free weeks (low traffic times I was taking day off) started traveling abroad for the first time.
One day, I decided I will save as much as I can and travel 3-4 months. I always wanna see Japan, Korea and Vietnam. I started saving my paychecks, waiting until I can afford a flight tickets. And one night I saw a ticket, very cheap compare to others. One way ticket, destination Tokyo, Japan.

People said: Cool, but waste of money.

In that trip, I learn a lot of things about myself. Met a lot of locals, most of them incredible people. But most important person was my future wife. If I wouldn't bought that ticket, probably never gonna met my wife. Right away looked for remote job while in Asia and found one. I started to live there.

And here we are, today I am sharing with you my story. As you can see, people will always talk, bad or good. Try to don't demotivated about them, just believe yourself. One day is gonna be your best other day maybe worst but don't forget, this is your life and try to be happy with it, even in the worst time.
